The 1980’s had different kinds of varieties in art and music. The types of art presented a great cultural feeling to this decade. The general type of art during the 1980’s was mostly modern and contemporary and it was also the Me! Me! Me! Generation. Alberto Pancorbo, a Latin American, represented many contemporary works that astonished the decade. Michael Jackson really define the generation of the 80’s music and a new art form with his music videos. Art in general in the 80’s exposed a generation with different and unique styles with abstract and contemporary new sounds in music.
Pop artist Michael (Joseph) Jackson was born in Gary, Indiana on the 29th of August 1958. He became a dominant figure to lots of young people with his popular music. Not only was he the “King of Pop” but also he became the very first African American entertainer to be on MTV. The type of art-style form that Jackson introduced in the 80’s was shown throughout his music videos. They were made the most popular on MTV, like “Thriller” and “Beat It” which aired in 1982. Other popular videos were “Bad” in 1987, “Billy Jean” which was released 1983 and was a song that came from a real life experience, that based on a claim a female fan of Jackson was father of one of her twins. The song came to be considered “one of the most revolutionary songs in history” and was certified platinum in 1989.
Another great artist was a Latin American painter named Alberto Pancorbo. Who was born in the 18th of April in Soria, Spain 1956. Alberto started painting at a very young age, at 18 he moved to the city of Barcelona to fully dedicate himself to only painting. In 1980 he became an exclusicve artist and in 1985 he held his first exhibtion in Madrid and was awarded the “Artist Revelation of the Year”. Some of his more popular paintings are “Mujer con Rosa”, “Sueno de Amor”, “Sueno Blanco” and “Poblada Soledad”.
To these facts the 1980’s had many revolutionary styles of art. From music to painting these styles contributed to make the 1980’s art a universal thing. their paintings really inspired the generation after them to make their own artwork and inspire more artist in the generations after that.
