The 1920s was a decade of new inventions.   This was the time directly after World War I, and when soldiers were eager to return to a more prosperous life. To help them enjoy their new lives new technologies such as the radio, silent movies and Henry Ford's automobile industry were invented.

After WWI, America bathed in economic prosperity, allowing them to enjoy more leisure time and technology.   People were getting richer and began to spend more money. They therefore began to spend money for better roads, tourism and holiday resorts Henry Ford's Model T., was the first car invented and helped people to live an easy life by making transportation easier and faster. Henry Ford's Assembly Line was also important, because, many people adopted it to make labor fast and easy in their industries. However it decreased the amount of laborers needed to do one job.

Another popular invention found in almost every home was the Radio. Radios sold at 400 to 850 dollars. The first public station was known as KDKA station, at first located in Pittsburgh. Radio had become a national pastime and many listeners gathered in their living rooms to listen to sports news, concerts, sermons and "Red Menace" news.  

Silent movies were introduced to the people in 1922 and were an extremely popular form of entertainment. It was so popular, it was the 3 rd leading business industry during the 1920s.   In 1926, the introduction of Technicolor made movies more entertaining and memorable.   As we all know, the movie industry became a major part of American industry then and now.

The 1920s was also a time of advancement in science and medicine. Deaths by Diphtheria was reduced due to the introduction of new immunizations. America's population also increased in health because of a new interest in nutrition, caloric consumption and physical health. The dietary habits of Americans changed significantly as they practiced the moral of less fat and meat and more fruits and vegetables.   The discovery of vitamins and their effects also came about during this decade.

            The 1920s contributed to the development of America and how it is today because of its advancement in technology and science.
